A Tale of Two Sisters and Tourette Syndrome

Eden and Shaila Anolik are 17-year-old twin sisters whose story was inspired by their experience growing up with a father who was has Tourette Syndrome. As National Youth Ambassadors for the Tourette Association of America, they educate lawmakers and the public about TS. The sisters also serve as Youth Mentors with the Pennsylvania Tourette Syndrome Alliance.
Eden and Shaila live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When they’re not hitting the books, they’re hitting the tennis courts, enjoying their favorite sport.

Hi! I’m Ana, the artist behind the illustrations in this book. I live in a beautiful German town, and art has been a part of my life since childhood.
I love creating cozy, playful worlds—places where anything feels possible and where characters embark on the kinds of adventures I dreamed of as a child. Sometimes, I sneak little meaningful details into my illustrations—my own pets or toys I would have loved as a kid—just waiting to be found.
My secret ingredient? Keeping the charm of traditional, hand-drawn art alive. Pencil lines, watercolor textures, and a touch of whimsy—because I want every child who picks up a pencil to feel inspired to draw too.

“A heartfelt depiction of how to handle social missteps with empathy—
especially when you love someone with Tourette’s and want to include
them in every aspect of life!”
